Database monitoring

I follow the Info Security News via RSS and came across this interesting article on Oracle security today.

The article deals specifically with Oracle databases, and is a little light on details, but the same can be said for MySQL, MS-SQL, or any other relational database used to store data. One point that I would like to make is that the need for network and application security monitoring is as relevant as it ever has been.

In the past year I have had the opportunity to work with Imperva's SecureSphere database monitoring appliances for inline database monitoring and while it is obvious that this product is not a panacea, used in tandem with Network Security Monitoring (NSM) methodologies it is possible to get effective visibility into both network and user activities.

Other information on Oracle and database in-security can be found here, here, and here.
